ABOUT TAN SRI AZMAN
Following a distinguished career in finance and investment at the boutique advisory firm BinaFikir, national power utility Tenaga Nasional and global banks Salomon Smith Barney and UBS, Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar was the Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional, Malaysia’s top sovereign wealth fund between 2004 and 2018, building immense wealth for the nation while spearheading the international expansion of the country’s top corporations into Asia, Europe and North America.
Today, he pursues a number of personal, academic, public and commercial interests with institutions that include the University of Cambridge, INCEIF (International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance), the Wawasan Education Foundation in Penang, Malaysia and the international humanitarian relief organization MERCY Malaysia.
In January 2021, Tan Sri Azman was appointed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia as a member of the Majlis Kemakmuran Bumiputera (Bumiputera Prosperity Council), before later also being named to a distinguished panel of senior leaders at the country’s National Recovery Council to help the nation recover from the pandemic.
