Wai Fong is a communications specialist with over twenty years corporate experience specialising in media relations and issues/ crisis management.
Wai Fong was formerly the Head of Media Relations and Issues Management for national carrier Malaysia Airlines, working under the transformation guru and ex-Shell Vice President Dato’ Sri Idris Jala Idris Jala before later moving over to Maxis Bhd., Malaysia’s largest telecommunications firm.
As Media Relations Head, Wai Fong was involved in Maxis’ first Initial Public Offering in 2002, its acquisition of TIMECel and subsequent merger with AirCel (India), where she took the lead for the external and internal communications, including the subsequent workforce reduction in the merged entity.
